So far January seems to have gone by in a whirlwind. I look at the calendar and realize it is already the 17th of the month and I’m not sure what happened to the first seventeen days. I know that near the beginning of the month (thank goodness for date stamps on pictures) Mini Me lost her third tooth. She lost her first two teeth almost a year ago so it was nice to finally have her lose another one.
Baby Geek made that final turn into fully potty trained after Christmas. He’s only wearing a pull-up to sleep and about 80% of the time it is dry when he wakes up. We could not be happier about this development. Of course now Mini Me wants to know when we are getting a puppy.
His favorite thing since Christmas, besides watching Cars, is doing his Mickey Mouse floor puzzle. The Geek and I both did it with him once and that appears to be all it took because he is now doing the whole 46 piece puzzle pretty much on his own. I still give him a couple verbal directions but he figures it out. Sometimes he scares me with his ability to figure things out.
Gymnastics has also been taking up a lot of our time. This past Sunday was Mini Me’s first meet. It was a fun meet, meaning they weren’t judged against each other and were award ribbons based on what their scores would have been. It was a way to get them exposed to competitions and give the experience. She was so excited about the meet. She ended up competing vault, bars and beam. She did not quite get her round-off back handspring to be able to compete floor.
She did as well as could be hoped, especially for being the youngest from her team and one of the youngest gymnasts out there. The most important part was even though she made mistakes, she never stopped smiling. She was so happy and had a great time. She definitely wants to get her round-off back handspring so she can compete in more fun meets. I hope she gets it because I love seeing that smile.

They are both so adorable! An doing so well too! Lovely family
Thanks! They are such a delight! Well worth the busy hectic schedule.
Where we are girls get ribbons until they turn nine, with no scores given out. I agree it’s a great way to get used to competing without focusing on scores.
That’s a nice way to do it. Once they are Level 4 they start getting actual scores around here.
Here it is just age. She’s hoping to do L6 or L7 this spring but at 8 yrs old, no scores.
