It’s that time of the year again. The end of January, beginning of February time of year where life kicks my family square in the teeth. For at least the five or six years (probably longer but I’ve lost track) this time of year tends to bring crisis. I wish I could say this year was the exception, but alas it is not.
For the past two weeks my grandma has been in extreme pain. It was around her hip and no one seemed to be able to figure out what was wrong. Well, here extreme pain led to a fair amount of morphine and a lot of inactivity on her part. Well, Monday morning my mom went down to visit her (my mom has been sick for the last two weeks; leaving me to daily check in on my grandparents and make sure medications were being properly administered) and noticed that her legs were swollen. She has an MRI yesterday afternoon on her hip (which suddenly stopped hurting on Sunday). They called the doctor to schedule an appointment to get the results and mentioned the swollen legs. So the doctor said come over right away. Well the doctor sent them over to the ER. I drove over to the ER last night because my mom still isn’t feeling 100% and my aunt is in Florida. To make a long story short (and to save my ranting about the inadequacy of this hospital) they found blood clots in her lungs and her legs. Well they found the clots in her legs this morning.
It’s kind of crazy that my grandma now has them after I had them just over a year ago. I ended up not getting back home until 1 am this morning. I did not go to the hospital today because my kids did not see me yesterday but tomorrow I plan to go over and check on her again. February starts in two days and I’m scared of what is going to happen around Valentine’s Day because the crisis likes to escalate on the busiest flower shop day of the year.
Hugs to you and your grandma! Clots suck!
That they do!
Big hugs to you and your family! I”m sorry you are going through this! I hope your grandma gets better quick and you can have a lovely Valentine’s day
With the flower shop Valentine’s Day is about surviving, lol. My grandma is home and super ornery. But she says she feels fine so that is good.
Glad to hear she is back home now. Take care, the both of you
